Presentation Description:

Simple definitions of a digital twin and the multiple categories of AI will be provided followed by specific examples. The applications will cover a broad set of areas primarily in the water sector but the principles behind these applications are applicable to multiple sectors. The presentation will discuss existing commercial products as well as the current academic and industry research.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Sudhir Kshirsagar is the president of Global Quality Corp. (GQC) where he leads the development and implementation of the HydroTrek 3D Digital Twin platform for drinking water, wastewater, stormwater and source water (hydrotrek.com). He leverages his unique educational background (B.Tech. in Electronics from IIT Kharagpur, MS in Computer Science from IISc Bangalore and Ph.D. in Environmental Systems Engineering from University of Illinois – Urbana) and his vast consulting and product development experience to integrate AI and IoT into the HydroTrek platform. He continues to publish his research on AI applications such water main break prediction and sewer defects determination from CCTV. He also lead the development IoT hardware for environmental sensing and the implementation low cost IoT telemetry options. He participates in the activities of several professional societies including ASCE, ACM, IEEE and AWWA, and chairs the Digital Twin Applications task committee at EWRI-ASCE.

The ASCE San Jose Branch is currently accepting nominations for officer positions for the 2025–2026 ASCE year. Members are encouraged to nominate themselves or other individuals who demonstrate a commitment to leadership, collaboration, and advancing the mission of ASCE. To submit a nomination, please complete the form below by the posted deadline.

 

Nomination Window: July 14 – July 25, 2025

Officer Elections: July 28 – August 8, 2025

Results Announced: August 15, 2025

 

ABOUT OUR BOARD

The Executive Board is responsible for guiding the Branch’s mission, strategic direction, and financial stewardship. Board members provide governance, establish policy, approve budgets, and support development initiatives. In collaboration with committee chairs and members, the Board ensures the organization operates ethically, efficiently, and in alignment with its goals.

 

In addition to the Executive Board, the Branch relies on a range of committees, each led by a Committee Chair, to plan and execute events, initiatives, and outreach efforts that support the professional and public mission of ASCE.

 

The President, Vice President, and Secretary are elected annually by the membership. The Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Director-at-Large, and Committee Chairs are appointed by the Executive Board.

 

All officers and committee chairs serve a one-year term, with the exception of the webmaster which requires a two-year commitment. Terms follow the ASCE year which begins October 1st and ends September 30th.
