Two weeks ago, the ASCE San Jose Younger Member Forum hosted its 3rd Annual Engineers Week program, and what a week it was! From February 9–13, 2026, we welcomed over 400 students from 10 schools across four exciting locations in San Jose: VTA Headquarters, San José Mineta International Airport (SJC), San Jose Woman's Club, and Valley Water Headquarters. Students explored a wide range of hands-on STEM activities, from building pavement sections, touring bioretention gardens and water quality labs, and constructing balsa wood bridges, to spraying water from an airport fire rig, learning about water conveyance and flow calculations, and hearing from students, engineers, and other professionals. The week was full of curiosity, creativity, and discovery, giving students a real-world glimpse into the possibilities of an engineering career. This event would not have been possible without the support of our generous sponsors, who funded every aspect of the program – from bus transportation for schools to lunch, t-shirts, and supplies – ensuring students and schools could participate free of charge. We are especially grateful to our hosts: VTA, San José Mineta International Airport (SJC), San Jose Woman's Club, and Valley Water for welcoming us and providing amazing spaces for students to learn and explore. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our volunteers, students, and teachers. Your energy, support, and curiosity made Engineers Week 2026 truly unforgettable. Finally, a special shout-out to the dedicated committee who invested hundreds of hours over a nine-month planning cycle to bring this event to life. Their passion, creativity, and commitment inspired a meaningful experience that celebrates STEM, supports students, and highlights the importance of engineering in our community. As we celebrate National Engineers Week, we are proud to share the impact of this event and the incredible community that made it possible. Together, we’re building a stronger pipeline for the engineers of tomorrow! |
