APWA Silicon Valley | ASCE San Jose Branch Joint Luncheon

Join APWA Silicon Valley and ASCE San Jose Branch to kick off the new year with an informative luncheon on Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) a critical component of modern infrastructure projects. It involves the investigation, mapping, and management of underground utilities such as water, gas, electric, telecommunications, and sewer lines. Accurate utility data helps reduce risk, prevent costly delays, and enhance safety throughout the design and construction process. Using advanced technologies like ground-penetrating radar (GPR), electromagnetic locating, and vacuum excavation, SUE provides essential information that supports informed decision-making and minimizes utility conflicts. This session will highlight how SUE aligns with ASCE 38-22, the latest national standard for utility investigations. The standard outlines quality levels, best practices, and documentation methods that ensure consistent, reliable subsurface utility data across all project stages.

Engineers Week 2026

Sponsorships Close January 12th

The ASCE San Jose Younger Member Forum invites you to celebrate Engineers Week 2026 with us! Our 3rd Annual Engineers Week program will take place February 9-13, 2026 and is expected to be our best one yet!

Engineers Week is focused on inspiring future generations of engineers and providing opportunities for K-12 students to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in an engaging and fun environment through professional panels, discussions and hands-on engineering activities. We rely on volunteers from STEM-related fields to serve as guides and mentors for the students, further introducing them to career opportunities they may not yet know exist. Our goal is expose students from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds to the field of engineering and engage them in a fun and meaningful experience.

Engineers Week 2026 will be held in person and will consist of:

  • Elementary School Day on Monday, February 9, 2026 at the VTA Headquarters in San Jose, CA
  • Middle School Day on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the San Jose Mineta International Airport
  • Girl Day on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the San Jose Woman’s Club
  • High School Day on Friday, February 13, 2026 at the Valley Water district office in San Jose, CA

If you are interested in volunteering at one of our Engineers Week Days, be on the look out for our Call for Volunteers in mid-to-late January.

This fun-filled, week-long event would not be possible without our sponsors and so we seek support from both public agencies, private firms, and non-profit organizations to join us in promoting the importance engineering to students in the San Jose area. Your financial support will offset the cost of venue fees, bus transportation, lunch, t-shirts, and supplies while giving you targeted, community recognition and exposure. Sponsorship opportunities include recognition on our social media platforms and print media, in addition to a variety of other benefits.

Be sure to check out our sponsorship proposal on our website. If you're interested in learning more or are ready to become a sponsor, send us an email at asce.ymf.sj@gmail.com.

Save the Date: California Infrastructure Symposium 2026

We’re excited to announce that the California Infrastructure Symposium will now be held at the South San Francisco Conference Center!
