City of Gonzales Approach to Wastewater System Expansion City of Gonzales’ Wastewater System Expansion Program is a phased infrastructure initiative to upgrade and expand the City’s wastewater treatment capacity to support residential growth and industrial development while meeting updated regulatory requirements. The program includes construction of a new 1.0 MGD industrial wastewater treatment facility, development of a dedicated industrial wastewater conveyance system, and rehabilitation and upgrade of the existing municipal wastewater treatment plant. The project will shift approximately 850,000 gallons per day of industrial ag-wash flows from the existing plant to the new industrial system, allowing for efficient treatment tailored to agricultural discharges. Following this diversion, the existing treatment plant will be rehabilitated and upgraded to meet current discharge requirements. Upon completion of Phase 2, the combined system will provide a total capacity of approximately 2.9 MGD, with future expansion of the industrial system to 3.5 MGD and incorporation of recycled water capabilities to support long-term growth through 2048. |
