Applications for Individual and Project Awards are being accepted through July 15, 2025.

 

ASCE San Francisco Section Individual Awards recognize individuals for outstanding achievements or leadership in civil engineering, or who through their work, support and advance the profession. Nominations can be made by any Branch, Younger Member Forum, Life Member Forum, Technical Group, Committee, or individual member. Additional specific criteria governing each Individual Award must also be satisfied.

 

ASCE San Francisco Section Project Awards recognize outstanding Civil Engineering projects in the San Francisco Section geographic area. Only projects completed within the San Francisco Section geographic area are eligible for consideration. The following is a list of counties in the San Francisco Section: Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Lake, Napa, Sonoma, Marin, Solano, San Francisco, Contra Costa, San Mateo, San Jose, Alameda, Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, Merced, Mariposa, Madera, Fresno, Kings and Tulare.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Want to make a real impact in just 1 hour a week? Become a virtual mentor and help high school students in Salinas tackle hands-on engineering projects like line-following robots and wind tunnel design!

 

This fall (Sept 15 – Nov 3, 2025), guide motivated students as they apply skills in C++, CAD modeling, and prototyping. Support the next generation of STEM leaders and inspire future innovators.

CAIS 2026: COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

The California Infrastructure Symposium (CAIS) will be hosted by ASCE San Francisco Section and Region 9 in Spring 2026. Planning for the conference has begin and the committee is looking for additional volunteers to assist with marketing, registrations, graphics, web content, and more. CWEA EVENT: EBMUD WWTP TOUR AND HAPPY HOUR

EBMUD will be providing a tour of their Main Wastewater Treatment Plant in Oakland, CA to explain the plants complex processes.

Several key features of the plant:

  • Extreme variance in dry-weather to wet-weather flow
  • The plant treats an average of 63 million gallons of wastewater per day, with the capacity to handle up to 320 million gallons during wet weather!
  • Resource Recovery
  • Power generation that exceeds the plants requirements
  • Recycled Water

 

About the tour: The tour will be given by a member of the SYP Committee who works at the plant so they will be able to give a comprehensive explanation for how various aspects of the facility relate to students and young professionals.

 

The tour will begin at 3:00 PM and there will be a Happy Hour after the tour at 5:00 PM at Night Heron in Oakland, CA.
